With the release of PowerSchool 23.5 (released May 2023), PowerSchool introduced a new “Enhanced User Interface” feature which implements an entirely new navigation structure to all PowerSchool pages. This new navigation structure required that our Level Data Apps services be restructured to comply with these new layout requirements.
Any customers choosing to use the new Enhanced User Interface feature and that also utilize our State Data Validation Suite and/or RealTime Reports services must update their Level Data Core plugin to a minimum version of 5.2.1 or else they will experience a disruption of those services until the Level Data Core plugin version is updated.
Please note that customers choosing to update to PowerSchool version 23.5+, that also choose to not use the Enhanced User Interface feature will not experience a disruption of service. The disruption of services will only affect those users assigned to a security group within PowerSchool that has the “Enable Enhanced User Interface” option checked within the PowerSchool Security Group setup page.
It is our recommendation that regardless of whether you choose to use the new Enhanced User Interface or not, that you update your Level Data Core plugin to the latest version to ensure that you can take advantage of new features coming from Level Data in the near future.
This plugin update is required for both hosted and self-hosted customers. Installation of any plugin updates are typically the responsibility of each district individually, however, if you find that you need assistance with updating our plugin, please open a support ticket with us by emailing helpdesk@leveldata.com and we will be glad to assist.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Level Data Core Plugin 5.2.1+ can only be installed on PowerSchool versions 22.7 and greater. Any districts on a PowerSchool version less than version 22.7 must not install Level Data Core 5.2.1+ and must be on version 5.1.1 or earlier version of our Level Data Core plugin. (Please note that our original notification email and the original version of this blog post incorrectly listed PowerSchool version 21.11 as a valid minimum version of PowerSchool that our Level Data Core 5.2.1+ plugin could be installed on. We have since updated this blog post to accurately reflect PowerSchool 22.7 as the correct minimum version of PowerSchool.)
How to Install/Update to 5.2.1
Requirements - We require that Custom Page Management (CPM) is enabled and that the PowerSchool supported “Plugin Management Configuration” page is used to install, delete, enable, and disable plugins. This means that we do not support custom web root installations of our plugins.
The Plugin Management Dashboard can be found by navigating to:
Original User Interface:
- Start Page > System > System Settings > Plugin Management Configuration
Enhanced User Interface:
- Start Page > System Management > Server > Plugin Configuration
If you run into any issues along the way or have additional questions, submit a ticket to helpdesk@leveldata.com.
